MARCH 2003 MEETING
The CWA Retirees met on March 5th at LaVerna's Restaurant. Approximately 11 people attended. Janice McGrath reported on the meeting she attended for the AFL-CIO Arizona Alliance for Retired Americans. Carol Lloyd will continue to pursue information about the lump sum discrepancy. We would like to network with each other on any businesses or any type of work that retirees are doing. Please e-mail this information to Ron Haaksma at ronandi@msn.com. We will be starting a "Retiree Networking" area on this website.
The club will to continue to meet for breakfast. Club officers will be determined at a later date. Note: no dues are being collected at this time.

FEBRUARY 2003 MEETING
The CWA Retirees met on February 5th at Mimi's Cafe on Oracle. Approximately 20 people attended. We had a nice breakfast and talked about our role as a CWA retiree club. The continuation of the club is in question. We need someone to take a leadership role to keep it going. We hope to get more direction at the AFL-CIO meeting to be held in Phoenix on February 18th at 1 pm. This meeting is the first to establish the Arizona Alliance for Retired Americans. The meeting will be held at the AFL-CIO state office at 5818 N. 7th (Phoenix). If you are interested in attending, please contact the club Secretary, Janice McGrath, at janmcgrath@aol.com.

JANUARY 2003 MEETING
The CWA Retirees met on January 8th at the Carpenters Union Hall. Guest Speaker Michael McGrath, Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO, gave a talk about the efforts being put forth by the AFL-CIO to establish the Alliance for Retired Americans. All retirees are invited to attend the initial meeting on Feb. 18th, to be held in Phoenix. If you are interested, contact the hall at 623-9231. Copies of the Joseph Bierne scholarships are available for retired members and their families. We decided to send out a notice to all retirees and invite them to the February meeting to be held at a Restaurant.... To be announced.

DECEMBER 2002 MEETING
The CWA Retirees met on December 4th. The January meeting will be the second Wednesday since the first Wednesday falls on New Years Day. We hope to have a guest speaker at this meeting. Nominations will be taken to elect the Vice President for the club.

NOVEMBER 2002 MEETING
The CWA Retirees met on November 6th. Don Tepper resigned as President for personal reasons. The Executive Vice President, Laddie Beca has taken over the position as president. We had a guest speaker, Alan Schumacher from Farmers Insurance, who gave us information regarding investments. Bruce Dock gave us information regarding the medical benefits package. Ron Haaksma has given us a list of discounts for seniors that is posted below. He will inform us of any new additions.

OCTOBER 2002 MEETING
The CWA Retirees met on October 2nd. We had an open forum where we discussed issues facing retirees and their families. Janice will send out reminders for the November meeting. Laddie will arrange for a speaker and Bruce will look over the medical benefits package and tell us about any changes affecting retirees at the November meeting

SEPTEMBER 2002 MEETING
The second meeting of the CWA Retired Members Club was held on September 4th, at 10 a.m. at the Carpenters Union Hall. The meeting was called to order by President Don Tepper. A motion was made to split the position of Secretary-Treasurer. The Secretary position will be held by Janice McGrath (previous Secretary-Treasurer). A motion was made to elect Bruce Dock as the Treasurer. (second and passed). The meeting was adjourned at 11:40 am

Club Dues
We had a good discussion regarding the dues structure of the club. A motion was made to set the dues at $12 per year beginning in January 2003. (second & passed). The goal is to increase the club membership between now and January 2003.

By-Laws
President Don Tepper read the recommended bylaws and we discussed the changes that we wanted to make. A motion was made to accept the bylaws with the recommended changes. (second & passed). Most of the changes are minor. Here are a few of the changes:
*The officers of the club will by nominated and elected each year in the month of September.
*The term of office will be for 1 year.
*Regular meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of each month.
*The number constituting a quorum for club meetings shall be 10.

The CWA Retirees met on August 7, 2002.at the Carpenters Union Hall. We elected officers and decided on a name for the club.
